Herbs & Spices: My Top 10 That Boosted My Health

I’ve always loved cooking. I grew up in a family who cooked all 3 meals a day, and experimented with new and made up recipes. At the age of 7, I took it upon myself to cook dinner (one night) for the whole family. Of course my parents were near and assisted me with prepping the sides, and the table. I remember it like it was yesterday. I served salad and a fresh home made bread to start, and spaghetti noodles bathed in some olive oil/lemon flavor type of thing, with chicken. I made everyone sit at the table and eat. My parents thanked me, and they all told me that it was good. They had eaten everything!

After I hit 10 years old, cooking took a back seat. And I started eating on the go because I was always on the go. I still am always on the go but, I’ve made it a priority to cook my own meals again.

Now for my Top 10 Herbs & Spices:

1.) Turmeric: Boosts Cognitive Function, Fights Body-Wide Inflammation, Supports Cardiovascular Function, Promotes Radiant Skin and Helps with Acne, Boosts Detoxification, Promotes Healthy Mood Balance, and Supports Natural Weight Loss. (Note: 20 MG of Black Pepper enhances the Bio-availability of Turmeric. For a better absorption of Turmeric into the body, than just having Turmeric alone.)

2.) Cayenne Pepper: Anti-Inflammatory, Stimulates Digestive Tract, Detoxification, Supports Healthy Weight Loss, Boosts Immune System, Supports Cardiovascular System, Treats Stomach Ulcers… (I was never a lover of hot and spicy food, but I had to slowly increase my tolerance and intake for my own good, for my health. It has changed my life!)

3.) Rosemary: Anti-Inflammatory and Anti-Bacterial, Boosts Immune System and Memory, Improves Mood, Reduces Stress and Anxiety, Fatigue Fighter, Helps treat Digestive problems.

4.) Ginger: Improves Blood Flow, Detoxing, Better Nutrient Absorption, Minimizes Stomach Discomfort, Promotes Respiratory Health, Immune System.

5.) Parsley: Improves Immune System, Bad Breath Treatment, Anti-Inflammatory, Prevents Anemia, Soothes Indigestion, Reduces Gas.

6.) Cinnamon: Antioxidant, Heart Health, Anti-Inflammatory, Blood Sugar Control, Anti-Bacterial, Anti-Fungal, Anti-Microbial Properties, Helps in Weight Loss.

7.) Garlic: Helps keep Blood Pressure under control, Boosts Immune System, Weight Control and Weight Loss, Detoxifies, Anti-Inflammatory, Increases Insulin Production.

8.) Thyme: Boosts Immune System, Fights Infections, Can Ease Stress and Improve Mood.

9.) Coriander: Antioxidants, Anti-Bacterial, Anti-Fungal, Anti-Inflammatory, Digestive Aid, Helps Reduce Bad Cholesterol.

10.) Cumin: Antioxidant, Antiseptic, Anti-Parasitic, Aids in Digestion, Boosts Immune System.

The way I discovered some of these were through a drink called “Golden Milk”, I call it Turmeric Tea. The first time I ever had that drink, I had felt the Health Benefits Immediately and on to the following day. I then decided to do my own research on the benefits of each ingredient in that drink.

For a month I incorporated my Top 10 Herbs and Spices into any meal and drink I could think of. And I can testify that from the state my body was in before doing it, to a month later, and now, they have worked wonders on my body internally. There are also some amazing uses for all of them externally.

I can tell you that I did change to a healthier eating lifestyle. For a month I stuck with only Chicken and Lean Fish. Vegetables and Fruits, and lots and lots of water. Chicken and Fish never got boring to me, because I would make my own seasonings and cook them differently every time. I also stuck with Coconut oil or Olive oil for cooking. No salt, no bread, no dairy products.

*If you would like some examples of how I mixed and matched some of these Herbs and Spices, feel free to send me a message. I’ll be more than glad to send you some examples.*

I hope this helps someone on their own journey.
